Il Ministro delle Finanze Edward Scicluna ha dichiarato durante il meeting con i suoi omologhi europei che Malta intende supportare pienamente il nuovo pacchetto IVA sul commercio elettronico europeo.
Il pacchetto mira a semplificare il commercio transfrontaliero per le imprese UE ,ma richiede sostegno dalle autorità europee per mitigare le fordi IVA . In particolare il pacchetto renderebbe le piattaforme online responsabili per la riscossine dell’IVA sui prodotti venduti .
Scicluna ha sottolineato l’importanza della semplificazione fiscale per le piccole e medie imprese ,evidenziando l’importanza di una strategia per contrastare le frodi fiscali portando così a compimento il “mercato unico digitale europeo” che consentirà ad imprese e cittadini di commerciare liberamente .
Per quanto riguarda la blacklist europea , Scicluna si è detto favorevole al progetto in quale avrà un significativo effetto deterrente ,anche se ulteriori misure saranno senza dubbio necessarie .
Il Ministro ha poi concluso osservando che Malta sostiene le iniziative UE a favore della trasparenza fiscale , così come le raccomandazioni OCSE .
