Il governo delle Mauritius ha fornito delle scadenze indicative per la liquidazione dei fondi offshore e delle società di servizi di consulenza che ne hanno fatto richiesta dopo la proposta di modifica delle regole di residenza fiscale.
Mauritius ha recentemente annunciato che sta modificando le regole per determinare la residenza fiscale in modo che una società non sarà considerata fiscalmente residente se gestita e controllata fuori dal Paese.
La piccola isola ha intensificato il controllo delle strutture dei fondi offshore, mentre cerca di abbandonare la sua immagine di paradiso fiscale e di mostrare la sua conformità a tutte le principali norme internazionali.
L'autorità di regolamentazione dei servizi finanziari del paese, Financial Services Commission (FSC), ha dichiarato che elaborerà tutte le domande entro due mesi, a condizione che i richiedenti soddisfino tutti gli obblighi legislativi che includono il rispetto del know-your-customer (KYC) e della normativa antiriciclaggio e finanziamento al terrorismo.
Il risultato di questa mossa sarà che molte delle strutture attualmente istituite a Mauritius saranno costrette a scegliere nuovi lidi ove registrarsi, mentre quelle che intendono rimanere dovranno adeguarsi ai requisiti di sostanza all'interno del Paese per continuare a ottenere i benefici fiscali.
